Gardens shaped by place, inspired by people.

Every garden begins with understanding.

No two homes, landscapes or families are the same, which is why every design should respond to the unique character of its setting and the people who will enjoy it.

Whether you’re looking to transform an existing garden, create a new outdoor space or simply need professional guidance, my role is to listen, understand and create a garden that feels as though it belongs.

I love helping people see the potential in their gardens, whether it’s a complete blank canvas or a much-loved space ready for its next chapter.

Based in Herefordshire and working across Herefordshire, surrounding counties and beyond, I create thoughtful, beautiful gardens that balance practicality with a strong sense of place.

Some projects begin with a blank canvas. Others are about revealing the potential that’s already there. Whatever the starting point, my aim is always the same, to create a garden that feels welcoming, timeless and deeply connected to its surroundings.

About

Creating gardens with purpose, personality and a sense of place.

My route into garden design wasn’t a traditional one.
Before retraining, I spent many years working within the food industry, initially in buying and later as an Account Manager working with major UK supermarkets. Whilst I enjoyed the challenge and relationships those roles brought, after starting a young family I found myself drawn towards a more creative career, one that combined my love of the outdoors with problem solving, design and working closely with people.

My journey into horticulture began with the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth, Propagation and Development, providing a strong foundation in plant science and horticulture. Inspired to develop this further, I went on to study Garden Design at the Cotswold School of Gardening, graduating with Distinction in 2025, before establishing Lucy Drummond Design.

Today, I work closely with clients to create gardens that reflect both the character of the place and the people who call it home. I naturally gravitate towards relaxed, abundant planting and timeless materials, but I don’t believe there is one style that suits every project. Every garden has its own story, and every client has their own way of living outdoors. My role is to understand both and bring them together in a way that feels effortless.

I believe the best gardens are thoughtfully designed around the people who use them, creating a lasting connection between home, garden and everyday life.
